FAQs

Why Should I Consider Hiring You & Midwest Wealth Advisors?

There are five reasons to consider hiring me and my team/firm:

  1. To turn your nest egg into a reliable paycheck in retirement.
  2. To pay Uncle Sam less and keep more of your hard-earned money.
  3. To reduce risk in your portfolio and generate healthy after-inflation returns
  4. To spend more of your time doing the things you love in retirement.
  5. To ensure your family, spouse, and/or heirs have a trusted professional to lean on if something happened to you.

Can You Meet Virtually and Work With People in Other States?

Yes! I currently help approximately 110 families across 17 states navigate retirement, reduce taxes, and invest smarter. If you’ve never thought about working with an advisor virtually – I think you’d be pleasantly surprised how easy, efficient, and enjoyable it can be.  In fact, I have clients who live locally that prefer to meet virtually so they don’t have to drive, sit in traffic, clean snow off the car, etc.  If you live in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota I’m more than happy to meet you at one of our locations personally as well.

I am equipped to meet with clients (and potential clients) through video conferencing software, Zoom & Microsoft Teams. Each virtual meeting is protected by a complex, unique password and we adhere to the strict security guidelines necessary to protect your privacy.

Comprehensive financial planning and investment management doesn’t work overnight.  It takes time, patience, and trust.  We have to work together as a team and have open communication.

I’ve done the best I can at structuring my work and services in a manner that gives clients personal attention and financial management support.  I know there is always room for improvement, and I always strive to get better at what I do each day.  My uncompromising promise is to take the hundreds of hours of research I do each year and leverage it to benefit those who place their trust with me and my firm.

How Do I Pay You To Manage My Money?

Fee-based investment management

Our investment advisory services are provided with a fiduciary standard of care, putting your best interests first.

We employ an investment management process designed to potentially minimize risk and maximize returns.

Our investment management services are unique, 100% transparent, and fee-only. Each client’s allocation is highly customized based on your return objectives, risk adversity, tax status of your accounts, and other factors. Investment advisory accounts are monitored on an ongoing basis in an effort to remain aligned with each client’s investment objectives.

We believe your portfolio should be allocated in such a manner that balances your long-term growth needs with enough stability and security for the short term to give you the best chance of achieving your goals, regardless of market conditions.

We firmly believe that investment returns should be measured for consistency and that developing a portfolio to weather market losses is crucial to long-term performance.

One transparent fee includes ongoing retirement and tax strategies + tax-smart management of ALL investment accounts. Our transparent fees are:

A percentage (%) of investments being managed (0.10% to 0.375% per quarter)

It only makes sense to hire a financial advisor — or any professional — if the value they provide exceeds the fee being charged.

In other words, the time and effort saved by hiring an expert + the tax savings (and potentially increased investment returns) need to exceed the fees being charged.

When a client needs a product – insurance, securities or an annuity for example – I am paid a commission.

The Retirement Roadmap we present to you will clearly quantify the benefits you will receive. Scheduling your first phone call with us is the first step to take to determine if we might be a good fit to work together.

Do You Offer an Hourly or One-Time Project Fee Option?

I do my best work with retirement savers who need and want a long-term relationship. Currently, I don’t offer an hourly fee schedule or a one-time project fee option.

If you prefer a financial planner who offers these limited-term engagements, another advisor in my firm can be of service.  I would be happy to make an introduction.

How Are You Different Than Other Financial Advisors?

There are three really important things about my services that separate me from others:

  1. I am a retirement and tax strategy expert for people aged 50+. Just like a Cardiologist wouldn’t perform foot surgery, I remain highly specialized and only work with serious retirement savers that I have the expertise to help.
  2. I limit the number of new clients I take on. This allows me to provide unparalleled value and highly personalized service to the families that have entrusted me to help them.  You may recall the movie Jerry McGuire, his thesis was fewer clients, better service.  I’ve always felt the same way.
  3. I have assembled an amazing team to service my clients.  I am the point person and most likely the only one you will communicate with, but my teams’ resources and intellectual capital enables me to deliver high-quality advice and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.  Years ago, clients would speak to someone different on the team depending on what was needed.  I found that having one point person who knew your situation inside and out was more efficient and easier for everyone involved.  Through my team I have access to CPA’s, JD’s, CFP®’s, a CFA, and others.

The fact that it’s hard to differentiate one advisor from another is EXACTLY why I offer a Free Retirement Roadmap. So you can see firsthand, and at no-cost, what I can do to potentially improve your investing strategy and situation.

Many of us have similar titles, designations, and service models. We also work with similar vendors and third-party custodians (e.g., Fidelity, Pershing, SEI, Assetmark, etc). It can be wildly challenging to evaluate advisors and find the best one for you! Which is why I provide the Retirement Roadmap at no-cost.

If you think there is a potential fit between your needs and our expertise, the first step is to schedule a complimentary phone call.

Where Do You Hold My Investments and How Can I See Them?

For your safety and convenience, I use Pershing as a third-party custodian for my client investment and retirement accounts.

Pershing administers trillions in assets for millions of investors.

As a trusted custodian, Pershing safely holds your investment accounts and provides reporting to you and the IRS each year. Your accounts can be viewed at any time at www.netxinvestor.com or through my Client Portal AdviceWorks.

Hopefully that is enough information to help you decide if you are ready to take Step #1!

Here it is, one more time.

Step #1: Schedule Your 20-minute Phone Call

👉 IMPORTANT: It’s not uncommon for my calendar to have limited availability.

I have to intentionally limit the number of introductory calls each week to ensure I provide a high level of service to current clients who have entrusted me to help them navigate retirement.

I also limit the number of calls so that I can be fully present with potential clients who are evaluating me. If you don’t see anything on my calendar that works for you, please call the office at (763) 428-0066 and I’ll do my very best to accommodate you.

Thank you for your consideration!
